Artisans' cottages. 1909. George Hubbard and Arthur Walter Moore, for the improved Industrial Dwellings Company, in consultation with Parker and Unwin. Rendered brick, painted and with tile roof, half hipped to No.70 and hipped to No.72. Two storeys. Three-window range, with the second- and third ranges united by a facing gable becoming an outshut to the return; all first-floor windows two light; tripartite to the ground floor; sash windows of an original design. Windows on returns and ground floor with weatherings. Entrances on returns. Axial stack to party wall; square stack to right return. Part of a group designed by Hubbard and Moore for the Improved Industrial Dwellings Company consisting of Nos. 70-124 Willifield Way even (q.v.); the units are roughly symmetrical about a central Green. The architects have also relied on the use of sash windows, in double, triple or tripartite arrangements, and facing gables to tie the design together.
74-80 Willifield Way

Artisans' cottages. 1909. Designed by George Hubbard and Arthur Walter Moore for the Improved Industrial Dwellings Company, in consultation with Parker and Unwin. Painted render over brick, with brick plinths and hipped roof of tile, swept and boxed eaves. Two storeys. Six-window range with two-window range outshut to both returns. Vernacular Revival style. Entrances of end units on returns in segmental-arched, recessed porch; round-arched entrance porches to centre pair of units. Brick storey band with weatherings. Elevation bilaterally symmetrical, the range flanking this central axis finishes in facing gables, the heads of which are pierced by loft louvres arranged in a cross pattern; the windows in these ranges are tripartite. windows are doubled in outer ranges, with narrow doubled sashes flanking entrances. Axial ridge stacks to party walls, that in the centre thicker than those flanking. All sashes of an original design. Part of a large group designed by Hubbard and Moore for the Improved Industrial Dwellings Company and consisting of Nos. 70-124 Willifield Way even (q.v.); the units are roughly symmetrical about a central Green.
82 And 84 Willifield Way

Artisans' cottages. 1909. Designed by George Hubbard and Arthur Walter Moore for the Improved Industrial Dwellings Co., in consultation with Parker and Unwin. Painted rendering over brick; weatherboarding to peaks of doubled facing gables which strike the dominant chord of the design and are to be found again at the far end of the Green on Nos. 98 and 100. Tile roofs with swept eaves and exposed rafter ends; tile kneelers; tile hung dormers to centre of each return. Two storeys. Two-window range. Vernacular Revival style; bilaterally symmetrical. Entrances near outer corners set in recessed, segmental-arched porches; flanking party wall is a pair of tripartite windows; double windows on axis above. All windows of an original 6 X 6 or 4 X 4 sash design. Axial stack on front slope to hipped rear wing. Part of a group designed by Hubbard and Moore for the Improved Industrial Dwellings Co., and consisting of Nos. 70-124 Willifield Way even (q.v.); the units are roughly symmetrical about the recessed Willifield Green.
83-89 Willifield Way

Artisans' cottages. Painted pebbledash with segmental relieving arches to ground floor, some painted; painted round brick arch to cross passage on centre axis of the block; weatherboarding to gable heads of half dormers. Hipped roof of tile. Two storeys and eleven-window range. Identical to Nos. 69-75 Willifield Way odd, (q.v.). Rear elevation bilaterally symmetrical about a four-light gable-headed half dormer; pair of gable facing half dormers to either side; gable-facing single storey utility wing to each unit. Nos. 57-111 odd,(q.v.) and 70-124 even, (q.v.) Willifield Way, the former by Parker and Unwin and the latter by Hubbard and Moore, form a most important group, illustrating Parker and Unwin's planning principles.
86-96 Willifield Way

Artisans' cottages. Designed by George Hubbard and Arthur Walter Moore for the Improved Industrial Dwellings Co., in consultation with Parker and Unwin. Rendering, painted except for the end units and tile hanging; brick, plinth. Roofs of tile with swept, boxed eaves and tile kneelers. Two storeys. Ten-window range to the group, the design of which is bilaterally symmetrical. Vernacular Revival style; at the centre of the composition a projecting wing with two-span facing gable of two windows; first- and second-, and ninth- and tenth-window ranges project and are spanned by single gable, becoming an outshut to each return. The recessed ranges spanned by a lean-to roof which is supported by plain uprights and brick piers on party walls; the entrances to Nos. 88-94 are set under these two porches; entrances to end units in outer corners and set within round-arched recesses. All other openings are flat arched with doubled and tripled sash windows of an original design; all windows with weatherings except for those in recessed ranges. Axial ridge stack to party walls of outer pairs and centre pair; square ridge stacks to other party walls and gable ends of dormers on return. Each return with two dormers above outshut, that nearest the front corner flat roofed and with tripartite window; its return tile hung, to the rear of this a larger gable-headed, tile hung dormers, the original sashes replaced by casements to the right-hand window of No.96. Two storeys. Three-window range. Vernacular Revival style, nearly identical to Nos. 82 and 84 Willifield Way. Bilaterally symmetrical except for the single window above entrance to No.100; the remaining first-floor windows are doubled; all have sashes of an original design, 6 X 6. Entrances near outer corners, set within segmental-arched, recessed porches; flanking party wall is a pair of tripartite windows with sashes of an original 6 X 6 and 4 X 4 design. weatherings to windows on main elevation. Painted brick plinth. Axial stack to front slope of hipped roof to rear of facing gables. Painted rendering with brick plinth and dressings; hipped roof of tile with swept eaves. Similar to Nos. 74-80. Two storeys and six-window range. Vernacular Revival style. Entrances to end units in segmental-arched recesses on returns; round-arched recesses to centre pair in second- and fifth-window ranges. Two ranges at centre finish in facing gable dormer; the peak of No.104 only with louvre loft slits in cross pattern.

Doubled sashes to outer ranges; narrower doubled windows to second- and fifth-window ranges; tripartite windows in gabled ranges; all windows have sashes of an original 6 X 6 or 4 X 4 design. Axial ridge stacks to party walls, that at the centre thicker than those at the sides. Artisans' cottages. 1909. George Hubbard and Albert Walter Moore. Painted rendering with brick plinth and high hipped roof of tile with swept eaves and exposed rafter ends to gutter fascia. Two storeys and six-window range. Vernacular Revival style; bilaterally symmetrical about the centre party wall. Variation of the rectangular-block type as found in Nos. 74-80 and 102-108 Willifield Way. Entrances to end units on returns, that to the left in a round-arched recess; round-arched entrance porch to No.104 also; entrance to No.112 has been modified. All other openings are flat arched, the windows with weatherings unless otherwise noted. Ranges three and four spanned by a broad gabled dormer; gabled half dormers in ranges one and six. All first-floor windows are doubled sashes of an original design, in 4 X 4 or 6 X 6 pattern; the windows to ranges two and five broader than the rest. All ground-floor windows are tripartite with sashes of an original 4 X 4 or 6 X 6 pattern. Single windows flank entrances on returns, each of which has a two-window range with doubled 4 X 4 sashes. Axial ridge stacks to party walls between Nos. 110 and 112 and between Nos. 114 and 116.
