Third child, second son of The Rev. Thomas Simpson EVANS and Deborah MASCALL.

Died 10th December 1877, St Leonards on Sea, Sussex.
Married Mary Elizabeth HAINES 1811 – 1898
Children: Herbert and Mary had fifteen children but not all lived to full adulthood.
Herbert Norman Evans M.D. 1824; M.C.S. 1825; and F.R.C.S. 1845 of New Grove House, Hampstead, practiced at Highgate.
As well as being a doctor and surgeon of good repute, his passions lay in book collecting and armorial devices, devising for himself and members of the family, various crests, arms and stamps.

He was elected a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries in 1848 and edited a library of Anglo Catholic theology in 83 volumes, which was published by J.H. and J. Parker from 1841 to 1863. His library of books, mostly theological, was sold in two portions by Sotheby, Wilkinson and Hodge 10 May and 21 June 1864.
