Death of Ann Vizard - 1799
On Monday last died at Chalford, after a severe illness of nearly four years, which she endured with unexampled fortitude and resignation, Miss Vizard, daughter William Vizard, Esq. of Dursley.
It is difficult to speak of the virtues of this amiable young lady in adequate terms, without being suspected of indulging in that licence which is allowed in all cases to the friends of the deceased.
To say that she was sensible, unaffected, devout, and charitable; that she was calculated to be an ornament to society; that she was a comfort and blessing to her parents and relations, and the delight of all who knew her; is perhaps saying everything which the most determined panegyrist could say of a young person in her walk of life; nevertheless it is saying no more than the truth.
If the recital of her numerous good qualities may in some measure aggravate the loss sustained by a worthy family, they can-not but derive consolation from the reflection that few, very few, were so well prepared to die.
