ROYAL VISIT TO TRE
Preston Laboratory
Imperial War Museum Film
COLLECTION OF RADAR FILMS FROM TELECOMMUNICATIONS RESEARCH ESTABLISHMENT, MALVERN
The Royal party arrives and takes the salute before inspecting the Guard of Honour.
They visit the main building, greeting staff as they go, before moving into the College Chapel and onto the Preston Laboratory where Professor Dee, Dr. Frederic Calland Williams and Dr. Buchanan greet them. Air Commodore Gregory and Mr. Morland of the TRE later greet the Royal party before escorting them into a presumably classified research area as the footage becomes a series of still photographs of the internal tour.
Mr. Pankhurst and "Chiefy" Francis are decorated for long and loyal service before the King moves into the Vision Laboratory where he is greeted by Dr. Attley.
The Queen, Lady Cripps and Mrs. Rowe are joined by the King, Sir Stafford Cripps and Mr. Rowe at lunch before they leave the site to a large, flag waving crowd lining the route.
