Forman Christian College
New Site Buildings
NGH writes:
In 1929 my father, George Edward Hubbard, was engaged as architect for the design of the New Site. The Depression delayed the start of building construction by seven years.
His vision was a modern campus built as a North American city aligned on a grid. All infrastructure services to be ducted underground and hidden from view.
There are many stories that I could have included: The role of the American Presbyterian Mission; The Depression; WW2; Partition; Government Control. And the old downtown Lahore and recent buildings. All interesting rabbit holes to explore.
I'm focussing on the building works - not the lively college it is today.
These photos are from their college archives.

"The new site, not unnaturally, looked drab and cheerless, but, let visitors come on a moonlit night; they would be ushered into a dreamworld."
